BEN MORABITO
A self-professed nerd since grade school, Ben has been fiddling with computers since the Atari 800. No one around him knew much about the beeping, buzzing, beige machines, so he had to “find a way” on his own – a lesson that became the basis of his professional attitude as an adult.
Beginning as the only IT support for a non-profit healthcare organization and progressing through multiple industries and positions (including a production manager for an artisan bakery, which is a story for another time) gave him a wide breadth of knowledge and experiences that served as his foundation in project and program management.
His professional core beliefs include believing that your people are infinitely more important than your processes, your strategy comes before your technology, and your attitude and communication will always trump your project plan and project/program methodology. He apologizes for none of these – just ask him.
JAY STURM
Born and raised in 1980s New York City, being a straight shooter is just part of Jay’s DNA. His first foray into the world of project and program management was with a construction company. That blue collar ethos fueled a “get sh*t done” attitude.
This attitude served him well when he made the move into healthcare IT. Serving in roles spanning service desk, project management, and IT & executive leadership; Jay honed his approach to strategy and team building. Serving a set of people obsessed with doing the right thing, he became acutely aware of how to identify pain points – things like redundant work and alert fatigue.
As it turns out, those pain points translate across industries. Eventually jumping into manufacturing IT (which is where he met Ben) with a focus on digital transformation and program management, Jay came to understand that the only good process is a sustainable one, and when it comes to PMO, you’re probably doing it wrong. The first step is acceptance.
